Payment, Cancellation & Refund Policy

Effective Date: July 2026

1. Overview

This Payment, Cancellation and Refund Policy forms part of the Lyncup Terms of Use and applies to all users of the Lyncup platform, including Event Creators (“Creators”) and attendees.

By using Lyncup, creating an event or purchasing a ticket, you agree to this Policy.

Nothing in this Policy excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies available under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), including the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), or any other law that cannot legally be excluded.

2. Platform Fees

Lyncup charges a 10% platform service fee on all paid ticket sales.

The platform fee covers the costs of operating the platform, payment processing, customer support, fraud prevention, transaction administration and other services provided by Lyncup.

The applicable platform fee is displayed before a Creator publishes a paid event.

3. Creator Payments

Lyncup collects ticket payments using secure third-party payment providers, including Stripe.

To protect both attendees and Creators, ticket revenue is held until the relevant event has concluded and all eligible refunds and payment adjustments have been processed.

Creators acknowledge and agree that:

  • payouts are not made as tickets are sold;
  • payouts are made only after the event has concluded;
  • payouts are calculated using only valid, non-refunded tickets;
  • Lyncup may deduct platform fees, approved refunds, chargebacks, payment reversals and any other authorised adjustments before releasing payment;
  • payout timeframes may vary depending on payment providers and verification requirements.

Lyncup may temporarily delay payouts where reasonably necessary to investigate suspected fraud, payment disputes, security concerns or breaches of the Terms of Use.

4. Attendee Cancellations

Where an attendee chooses to cancel a paid ticket before the applicable cancellation deadline, Lyncup will generally provide a refund equal to 90% of the ticket purchase price.

The remaining 10% is retained as a cancellation fee.

The cancellation fee contributes towards payment processing fees, transaction costs, administration expenses and operational costs incurred in processing the original payment and refund.

This cancellation policy applies unless the attendee is entitled to a different remedy under the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable legislation.

5. Creator Event Cancellations

Once paid tickets have been sold, Creators cannot cancel the event through the Lyncup application.

Creators must contact Lyncup Support to request cancellation.

Where a Creator requests cancellation after paid ticket sales have commenced, Lyncup may charge a cancellation administration fee of up to 10% of the gross ticket sales to recover payment processing costs, refund administration expenses and other reasonable costs associated with cancelling the event.

If cancellation is approved:

  • attendees will generally receive a full refund;
  • no attendee cancellation fee will apply where the event is cancelled by the Creator;
  • Lyncup will advise the Creator of any applicable cancellation administration fee before cancellation is processed.

Lyncup reserves the right to waive or reduce this fee where appropriate.

6. Settlement of Funds

An event is considered settled once:

  • the event has concluded;
  • approved attendee refunds have been processed;
  • Creator payouts have been completed;
  • any known payment disputes or chargebacks have been resolved or appropriately accounted for.

Only after settlement will Lyncup transfer its earned platform fees and applicable cancellation fees from its payment provider to its business account.

7. Refund Processing

Approved refunds are generally processed promptly after approval.

The time required for refunded funds to appear in a customer’s account depends on the payment provider and the customer’s financial institution.

Lyncup is not responsible for delays caused by third-party financial institutions or payment providers.

8. Chargebacks

If a user believes a payment has been processed incorrectly, they should contact Lyncup Support as soon as possible so the matter can be investigated and, where appropriate, resolved.

Nothing in this Policy limits a user’s legal rights to dispute a transaction through their financial institution where permitted by law.

Where a chargeback is received, Lyncup may temporarily withhold Creator payouts while the dispute is investigated.

9. Fraud Prevention

To protect users and maintain the integrity of the platform, Lyncup may:

  • verify user identities;
  • request additional information;
  • delay payouts;
  • suspend payments;
  • refuse withdrawals;
  • cancel transactions;
  • restrict or suspend accounts where reasonably necessary to investigate suspected fraud, unlawful activity or breaches of the Terms of Use.

10. Taxes

Creators are solely responsible for complying with all taxation obligations, including GST and income tax obligations arising from ticket sales.

Lyncup does not provide taxation or financial advice.

11. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in this Policy excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, statutory warranty or other right that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable legislation.

Where a user is entitled to a refund or other remedy under the Australian Consumer Law, Lyncup will provide that remedy in accordance with its legal obligations.

12. User Acknowledgement

By purchasing a paid ticket, attendees acknowledge that they have read and accepted this Policy, including the applicable cancellation fee for voluntary cancellations.

By publishing a paid event, Creators acknowledge that they have read and accepted this Policy, including:

  • the 10% platform fee;
  • payout occurring after the event has concluded;
  • payouts being based only on valid tickets remaining after refunds and authorised adjustments;
  • the requirement to contact Lyncup to request cancellation of a paid event; and
  • that a cancellation administration fee of up to 10% of gross ticket sales may apply where a paid event is cancelled after tickets have been sold.

These acknowledgements are also presented during the event creation and ticket purchasing process.
